Way to paradise

I cannot change what is already behind me
Or manipulate what lies ahead
What I can do is hope to make the right choices
And pray that Allah guides me to the straight path
For it is the way too paradise

Humble

I listen twice as much as I speak
Taking in others knowledge….
I am not weak…but strong...

Strong enough to admit…
I sure as hell don’t know it all…
Yet strong enough to know…
I’m no fool waitin’ to fall…
But I still ask for help.

I am very meek in my demeanor;
I am not weak…but strong..

Strong enough to admit..
I’m gentle and don’t like to argue…
Yet strong enough to know…
I can stand up if I have to..
But I continue in my meekness…

I bow in awe before life’s grandness;
I am not weak…but strong..
Strong enough to admit…
I cannot outshine another…
Yet strong enough to know…
I can shine as bright as any other…
But I let others shine.

See…
It’s not about self-glorification…
It’s about lifting up a nation.
It’s not about superiority…
It’s about bowing…
Before humanity…

I am humble.

Breaking the cycle

Son of a father who
Never hug me
Never said, son I love you
Yeah, you taught me how to pitch
And all the basic of baseball
But still I can recall
The day you were getting high
Right in front of my face
Must have thought I was
Asleep but I wasn’t
Witnessing every sniff of the
Powder every hale of the
Cigarette you took witnessing
Your every intoxicating moment
Killing yourself with the poison
Which turned you in to a zombie
And a stranger to your children

Now a man – father, I fully
Understand the ills of society
Burden on you that
Emasculated you mentally
Debilitated you emotional
I see that this begun before you
Not knowing how to express your love
Because it wasn’t express
To you
From drugs to hail
I did the same as you
As a child
Now grown I can see then
How I was affected
From the neglecting of your love
As a child
Where does this cycle ends
As a fatherless child?

WHEN DREAMS FALL

When Dreams Fall
From the cliffs of eternity

It’s people like you
That carries them spiritually
It is people like you
That breathes life where it’s lost
With the unbiased LUV
That delivers without cause

When Dreams Fall
From the cliffs of eternity

It is you, your compassion
Your kindness… sincerity
That spills poetry like water
On the deserts of my soul
You bring warmth like the sun
Whenever life becomes cold

When Dreams Fall
From the cliffs of eternity

I know you’re there fighting
                To revive them
Preventing an

Liberty of Death

Born entrapment of poverty
Pain
Suffering thru the long days
And thru the hell of
The nights
Still a man of
Pride and principles
Standing fearless fighting
Against the odds
Can you see my scars
Feel my hunger, my rage
For the freedom of living
Of my life is priceless
Yet taken for granted
The liberty of my death
Should be celebrated
For the life I live
Trying
To make it.

Mama Dear

Many hours many hours
Yet time stands still
A milestone has been set
Year after year

To understand life is
To understand death
One can't be without the other
That you can bet

The circle of life will forever be felt
The gateway to creation
Is your way to help

I thank you for the comfort of your warm
Inner being
Just you and me together
Damn, what a dream

Many hours many hours
Yet time stands till
A milestone has been set
Now I'm here

To you I owe a lot
I am forever grateful
That's without a doubt

In life and death
You will always get
Your prop's

Many hours many
Yet time stands still
A milestone has been set
now you are here

You are the most
Beautiful thing
That came from God mouth

Be and it is
And here you are
Teaching a nation
To rise and never fall

Many hours many hours
Yet time stands still
A milestone has been set
Now I'm here

Thanks for given me
Life
I love you

The Realization of Death and Eternity

Where is he? Where did he go?
Dad is gone but to where I don’t know.
They say he is dead, but what is death!?!
Decayed in a world without one’s breath!?!
He must come back, his role is due!
Without my dad, I’m done, I’m through!
What does it mean to not exist?
“He will come back,” my thoughts insist.
He knows I need him, he shall return –
God forbid the opposite I learn!
God forbid my thoughts be false!
God forbid he has no pulse!
They make it clear…
He’s dead, he’s gone – never to return!
OH MY GOD, how the truth does burn!
I must reach him in this land of death;
I’m compelled to expel my final breath.
Upon the toilet I take my stance,
I grab the chord – this is my chance.
Like in the movies, I make a noose
To ensure it tightens, I tie it loose.
I take my step closer to Dad…
I want it back, what I briefly had…
I have no fear….

Show some love

The bang-bang theory is prevalent today
Body count rising, in shallow grave they say.
Countless young men, no sense of purpose
Rampant crime, totally remorseless
Hatred, mistrust, fences need to mend.
Discuss, pontificate, elucidate on end
Sale words is all, no one would bend.
Missing the forest to concerned with the trees
Strain out a gnat but swallow a camel!!
Who has an ear to really listen?
Truth be told, love is missing!!
Conscious we say?? Our ancestors are weeping
Our demise is calling tenuously creeping
Who has an ear to really listen??
Truth be told, love is missing!!
Today is a new day “together, we can!!”
With love as the foundation, we can heal the Lord.

Awakening in the mist of false friends

Opening my eyes, I see many faces -
All the support I should ever need.
Yet when the sky begiuns to darken
And droplets of rain begin to fall,
I see some of the far-off faces
Turn and begin to fade in the distance
The wind gusts with a shuddering chill,
We tighten together, searching for warmth,
I see less faces the tighter we get;
The outer circle falls away.
I see less faces, but love the few.
Clouds start launching hail at our heads...
Many more scatter to save themselves.
The circle of faces shrinks even more.
Standing firm in the storm of life's haze,
I see the few faces standing strong;
The faces with me during lonely nights,
Sharing in laughs and drugs (our ideas of love).
These were the faces I knew would be there,
No matter what the storm would bring.
But then it happened ... the lightening struck.
The ground shook with a ferocious shudder!
I searched around, but saw no faces -
Alone I stood....consumed by the storm

They Don't Like Us

We broke the rulez, ya know
we did what "they" said
we were not allowed to do
we laughed -
we cried -
we thought
we explored universal knowledge
resulting with a missive
written when U-N-I- verse
we planted seeds
and cultuvated the foundation
of a taboo relationship
we expressed feelings of emotions
that we never knew
we could emotionally express
we took
2 steps to the left
we took
2 steps to the right
we hopped
2 times then cha cha'd
yeah we cha cha'd ya'll
we kris - crossed
just in the nick of time
for my sweet aunt
to ketch my words
Ann - a never let go
Ann - a never forget
We laughed -
we cried -
we thought -
we did what "they" said
we were not allowed to do,
we broke the rulzes....

....ya know?

Now, I can cry

Living with no remorse
of immoral acts
having a heart with no feeling
of who has hurt in the process
there is no worries
no happiness - no smiles
for those past immoral acts
there no apologies
for my thoughts
and no time for sympathy
concering hows one feeling

As I'd laid with the roses
the thorns beneath
had no effect
as I'd walked the surface
of broken glass
barefooted
a tear yet, I shed to regret
and through the years
still there no sorrow.

But, now I can cry
Yes, now I can cry.....

Don't

Sarah beautifully articulates in this poem all the "don'ts" and then some that we were warned about. It is truly sad that more than anything the social stigma attached to incarceration starts right from the penal system itself which draws a thick wall between "them" and "us". - halima

Don't sit too close.
Don't let them manipulate you.
Don't get too emotionally attached because you won't be seeing them.
Don't wear clothes that will make you appealing to them.
Don't open your heart to them,

Don't forget any second they could rape, assault or kill you.

DOn't ask what they're in here for.
Don't hug them on your way out.
Don't meet there gaze when you're walking past them.
Don't write or correspond when you leave here.
Don't talk to them in the hall.

Don't forget any second they could rape, assault or kill you.

Don't develop any feelings for them.
Don't mail letters out to their families.
Don't relay any messages.
Don't let them take the lead in the conversation and talk too much about themselves.
Don't show any emotions when they share their stories.
Don't sympathize with them.

Don't forget any second they could rape, assault or kill you.

What they forgot to warn me about the most of all was

Don't take their knowledge, passion, life's experiences, education, vulnerability and daring to bare their souls.
Don't take the info shared here back to the streets to educate the up and coming youth.
Don't take their empowerment and respect they showed me without having to rely on half exposed breasts and jeans two sizes too small.
They forgot to tell me don't go back and share with the world that we haven't lost our men, GOD was merely giving them break.

Shit....just as I was about to go a little deeper.....I heard that nagging voice remind me....

Don't forget any second they could rape, assault or kill you.

Dedicated

If I could literally put my life in your hands
I would give myself to you as a gift
As my vows as a token of appreciation to you
Your happiness would be my only wish……

The only tears you will shed would be tears of joy
Never of hurt nor pain.
I would attend your every need
You have my full attention with no strain….

I am your warrior- your Conan- your He-Man
Your ultimate fighter,
Your crutch-your ankle brace-your warm bed
And soft pillow when you’re tired……

I am your friend-your companion-your partner
Your dude-your significant other and spouse,
I will be the reason for your laughter-your giggles and all the many smiles
That will form your mouth……

I love you like I love life
And I hope you conceive the picture I painted.
You are stuck with me like a birth mark forever
Because I am completely dedicated……Yurs!

Newspaper Ad

Ad- Man seeking woman that’s independent, strong, attractive kids or no kids, grandchildren and must know how to win a man. That was the ad in my paper that’s in my mind and you answered with this response;

Ad- woman seeking a man that loves children first! A man who can love and sweep me off my feet! A man who is not afraid of a woman who is independent! A man who is not afraid to take the lead! A man who knows what it feels like to be in love and not the fact that you are in love with the fact of being in love. A man who makes me feel like everyday it gives me another reason to grab my phone and wait for a call.

I responded;
Ad- I am that man you speak of. I am that man who loves children. I am that man who will make you heart yearn for me. I am that man if I lead, follow me, if I hesitate push me, if I cross you let me go because loyalty is everything, death before dishonor. I am that man who brings love not hate, who brings love not pain, who brings pleasure not shame. The man who you see has less to lose and more to gain.

You responded;
I am a woman who don’t come that often in a lifetime. I am a woman who will show you how to love and that’s not a bad thing. I would show you trust and to love mentally. I am that woman whose children and grandchildren made you come alive all over again. I am that woman you can count on. I am that woman who has your back. I am that woman who will bring your wall down if it is up. I am that woman who will hold your deepest secrets with my life and love and make you understand that finance is good but romance is greater. The woman who makes you understand that your heart beats different when its love inside. I am that woman!

I got the paper today and seen that ad and I wrote a new ad;
Ad-Whoever or wherever you are, come to me, let’s meet, let me see your face, let me see your smile, let me listen to your voice, let me look into your eyes and see your truth , your pain, your good, your bad, your happy, your sad. Light, light, let me see your dreams so I can wake you up. Just let me in the front door, the back door, the middle or end’ Let me be your man, lover, consloler or friend. Let me be the food you take in, let me read your thoughts, let me get in the race because I want to begin.

So our ad reached other and I received one more ad;

My number is ***-***- ****
Call today, call tonight, call when you can, because I can’t lose.
Do you know why? You are the one, I am determined to win!!

Pure Woman

Within the quintessence of your soul
Lies the very thing that
Touches the core of the coldest heart
Its embrace within your presence
Glows from your aura
It even shows through your
Daring enchanting’ eyes
In your voice it can be heard….
Seen in your smile
It is the magnetism of your
Strength which draws
Beauty to your soul
That’s adore much
So my fair lady know that
You possess a strong spirit
The reason why you are
Pure woman!!!

Building for tomorrow

If this is life, I am not living it
Too much pain, sadness, alone, I just ain’t feeling it
Bad choices I made ‘em, the debt I’m paying it
Still I find peace in the concrete and steel
Can’t take my joy or my love because it’s real
Real in the friends I see each day
Real in my family, they’re here to stay
Real cause I know we’re finally arrived
The hand of the free and home of the brave?
Life behind bars cause I wouldn’t behave
A statue called liberty is a fraud to me
She’s lying through her teeth, a land of poverty
Poverty of faith, hope and love
Poverty in trust and all the above
Happiness found in a small child’s smile
Happiness in freedom through I took awhile
Happiness in a hug, an embrace from friend
Pastoring life, renewing liberty, happiness being a friend of a friend

True Words

Love is something I was knew was true
I always let it pass me by until I met you

Appreciation was not part of my life
Your husband took you for granted now he lost his wife

I opened your heart and operated on your soul
You made me understand it takes two halfs to make you whole

The whole point I am trying to make
I want to be with you mentally, spiritually and sexually for goodness sake

So if you want to this pleasure and not pain
Get with me and you best to believe I will make it rain

Five (5) Minutes

Five minutes until yesterday.
Five minutes from tomorrow.
Standing five whole minutes from happiness and sorrow.
The future lies in the past some say and when tomorrow becomes yesterday
We’ll be caught forever in today wishing we were still five minutes away.
Saying good-bye is hard to say, when forever is only five minutes away. Five minutes ago we had a choice.
But we took a chance and lost our voice.
In only five minutes life changed my view.
What was old, now is new
Like five minutes before clock out time.
As a chill creeps down my spine.
When a mere five minutes ago you were thinking how far you’d go.
You should what can happen in five minutes flow.
Five minutes more to contemplate might have changed my fate.
Consider what your gain would be.
Five minutes from eternity.
How long five minutes really last before the future becomes the past.

Pillow Talk With a Revolutionary

Radio lights and equalizing flashes lights the room
Perhaps you can get stolen glimpses
Of mahogany toned-redden skin intangled
Like thorny sticker- brower bushes
Between sweat dampened sheets
As honey dew and lavender scented candles flicker….
As heaving chest and deep breathing subdues
She whispers “ I love you” while writing my name with her fingers in my Sweaty chest hairs
With  light finger tips, I gently trace the contour of her indigenous hillside bottom
All the way down
Barely brushing her not so sweet spot behind her knees and answer
“That’s cool to love me, but be in love with the struggle“…..
Giving me flashbacks of a middle school teenage attitude
She purses up the prettiest lips
And roll those almond shape deep oak colored eyes
While repositioning herself
Further-deeper into my arm pit and rib cage
Suddenly, no longer a name in my chest hairs
But a sharp finger jabbing pain in my side
With the warm faint smell of cognac and kush
With hints of cinnamon spice exhales
Her languages suggests she didn't like my response....
Irritatingly amused, but equally annoyed at the
Rememberance and the actual attempt of her
School girl attitude
And since 80% of language is non-verbal
I deliberately cross my hands behind my head
Interlacing my fingers and uncoiled our
Legs so mines could cross
Body language accomplished....
Not even secondsafter she reads into my sign
She sinks deeper into her "around the way Homegirl"
Posture
Sucking her teeth and scowling up that seconds ago
Beautiful face
Her attemot at setting off into motion
That classical played out ghetto scene in full throttle now
Her next words are perfunctionary I know
Almost mandatory in the scene she acts out
"Boy, I hate you sometimes, you make me sick"
And snatches the once shared sheet as she rolls
Up into her emotional knot on her
Other side....
In a not to distant past
I would've given her what she wanted
And performed any characters part to the T
But nah, I am GODBODY now
That is the enactment of God's body of words and
Wisdom
And though when you 're dealing with the symboloical
Rib of man
Inflared passions thatsnatural is hard to suppress
But God is real
So I do what I does and demonstrate Godlyness
I lead.....
Taking single moments that feel like an eternity
To plot out my course of action
Spurred on by goshes of wind
That seems endless as the summer nights rain
Is ever present in our shared afrodisiac
Which seemingly arranged this love making session
The timing comes off right
Because speakers gingerly belts out the tunes and
Melody of
"Break Up to Make Up"
Followed by the words...
Silently I thank God, as I smile
Recognzing the irony and timing of this song
In my best baritoned voice
I softly sing the chorus
Not to her
And really not to me
But rather to the mood and atmosphere
It's crazy, because
Right beneath the music I hear her
And imagine tears staining the canvas I love to
Look at
Understanding perfectly well
That her scene has played its course
Now she is back to raw vulnerability of her
Honest feelings
She feels as if they are out there
By themselves on a single limb.....
I say her name
No response
I reach under her sheet and stroke her rib side
She flinches as my touch re-adjustens to her skin
Electricity
Pure estactic at that moments touch
The elasticity of manly function
Takes place as I position myself to spooning behind her
Feeling the need to just touch and grab hold
I know someone in heaven is smiling
Because the timing is right again as the song "For the Love That I Give to You"
Chimes in and almost as a whisper
She backs her warmth up against my warmth
And says "hold me"
I nestle us under the sheets and the pillows and talk
Slowly dragging my words
Between kisses at the nape of her neck
Behind her ears
It takes effort , but even at the top of her spine I reach
Her genetical need to want to know
Ask me " How come I can't lover her the way she
Loves me " and " Why can't I commit"?
She barely gets the last words out
Before she sighs "ooooh" from my palms embrace
of her nipples
I tell her "I love her more than she will ever know or understand
"But why?'
She can't complete the thought
As I can feel tht goose bumps on her skin flare up
From my hand quickly trailing down to tease the nerve endings
of her clit
"But why what"
I whisper as I slide one then two
Fingers into her Nile Valley
The touch seems to soothe her
As I can almost feel the pressure release out of
Her body as my chest is to her back
"But why can't you put me first"? She finally gets out
Knowing that she got her inquiry out
She stops massaging my leg
She now reaches between hers
To grab and sensually stroke my Afriken walking stick
I squeeze her and tell her
"Your not playing fair"
I can feel her smile while saying "what'?
Cupping her leg apart with my hand
She knows my intentions
She guides me inside her Heaven
With a slight thrust from the hip
I feel complete
Whole almost
A perfect fit
With neither of us rushing
And no intent on stopping
We both give slight gyrating grinds
I answer her
"You ask me that question because you don't understand me"
She wants to detatch her mind from her body
I can feel it
But I won't allow her
I continue
"Baby, you can't base our love or relationship off of some
Shit out there"
She trys to to speak but I cut her off
"I need you to understand I am a man with a cause,
A purpose, unfortunately I am not afforded
The luxury of time to waste just to be
Lesiure
When we first met you was attracted to my
Cause to change, to appease your desire
For quality time
The only quality time we can have together is the
Time we spend engulfed in the movement
She pleads
"But baby why"? "It's so many things I
Want to do. So many experiences we
Be missing because your not here.
I feel like you don't love me".
I told her, I said
"Baby I love you deeply but I love the
Struggle more.....
Me inside her and
She enveloping me
Neither thirsting the chase for climax
But both pleading
For the other to not under
But over-stand
With no more music in the background
The rain completely stopped
candles finally flickered out
Just me and my love
Intertwined
Enjoying each other
Not knowing how to proceed
Questioning if we should proceed
A void in time
An abscence of every other thing in mind
Just a fragment of a night spent
A piece of the conversation
Pillow Talk With A Revolutionary.....
