Dedicated to my Long Lost Sisters I finally Found

From the pain inflicted upon the physical elements
That protect every bit of your complicated existence…
I know a lil sumthin about tears fallen
From the emotional torched forcing a vulnerable heart
To crumble within your temple…
I know a lil sumthin about tears fallen
From the unmistakable joys of loving
Traveling thru hills, valleys and caves
Until they reach the sands of a beautiful smile…

I know a lil sumthin about tears fallen
From the confusion
From the blindness
From the unknown
From fear

I know a lil sumthin about tears fallen
I even know about the tears that never fall
But instead
They fill an impervious bowl in your soul to the very being
And, show how, someway, something
Finds the energy and unexplained ability
To quickly pour it’s content into a bigger bowl

Just so you won’t spill a single drop
And, every once in a blue moon
Growing to the tunes of silence
A tears runs over the edge, but evaporates
Before it ever hits rock bottom

Yeah - I know a lil sumthin about those tears
And I have known them for years
But, then I was introduced to a completely different species of tears
I found my spirit in the presence of untamed beauty
Rebel tears, revolutionary tears
Freedom-fighting, lip-biting
Slick walking, shit talking
Non-conforming - locks

Pop- locking to the rhythm of life
Tears
And they were sumthing else…
Until I realized they weren’t rebels
Fighting to break free from captivity, at all
They weren’t molded from
Pain, hate, sorrow, or loss.
They were never created from the loins
Happiness, laughter, and joy
They were not a product of FEAR
Naw..
They were really sumthin’ else
See, I understood
You couldn’t give me your biggest hug,
You couldn’t give me a kiss on my mind
And peel the calluses from my hands,
While singing everything gonna be all right

I absolutely understood this
And realized - that’s exactly what those tears were…

When you had nothing else left in your possession to give,
You gave a thousand tears that no one could
Restrict, confiscate or even limit

Every tear was a precious gift
Packaged within the factory of your spirit
Delivered (Fed-Ex 13.95 - overnight legal mail) from your heart.
Thank you
And the next time
A tear decided to peek around the corners of your eyes…
Don’t be ashamed
Don’t be embarrassed
Don’t hide them

Just let them look

Cuz’ what you have was never a problem
It’s a blessing
And somebody, probably, needs a sincere gift
From a familiar stranger…

I can Trust

You never miss a good thing until it’s gone
They took my joy a day early…They are so wrong
We knew this day was coming, I don’t want to see No tears
You will always be in my heart I’ll keep you’ll near
Thank ya’ll for being real it felt good to know people still care
With ya’ll I made my life an open book
Anything ya’ll want to know I’ll share
Poems are expressing your feelings so I am gonna be direct
With ya’ll it’s deeper than words
I really felt like we connect
There is no need to be sad
We will always be friends
The last two meetings we’ve built an understanding that’ll never end
There was no limit in the subjects we discussed
I felt real comfortable
Ya’ll are individuals I can trust

They fear what they don't understand

Why, I ask why must we be held back and oppressed by the man
I seen something yesterday that made me quite mad
Oppressing those that try to help those that are oppressed is sad
How could you hold back or degrade people that risk all for others
But these stiff slacks and shirts won’t understand
Until its their sisters and brother
No, not until they are stripped of freedom
Tossed in jail and captured
See it is brothers locked away
Each day who pray to God for rapture?

They fear what they don’t understand painful emotion excited by apprehension or impending danger
Is what may felt as she stared into the eyes of a baby in a manger?
It is how Martin Luther King Jr. felt for people
Who are oppressed?
Fear itself is a powerful emotion
That is driven through people with great distress
They will never understand until their placed in this position or start to witness us as a people and not that of opposition
What gain do you get out of oppressing people?
That try to help those that are oppressed in this system
That condemn what they can’t see through a lack of understanding and wisdom
Trying to make us appear to be worst than we really are
They fear what they can’t see
Unity is an issue that is been suppressed by those oppressed because we no longer believe
Instead we let the suits control and disrespect us and cause our sisters to grieve

They fear what they can’t see
Not all of us want to remain being oppressed disrespected and lynched
We want to be free
Understand brothers today I am changed man
Able to sustain and reach out through words instead of physical reaction
Today I can think with a capability to use words of action

They fear what they don’t understand so stand up and be a man

A Dead Man's Prayer

Dedicated to all who have lost their lives to addication

It started out just here and there
But before I knew it
It was everywhere
Maybe just a line
Maybe just a taste
Before I knew it, I’m a waste
The caplet breaks
As does my will
All life revolves around this little pill
Looking back I now see
I lost my soul, friends and family
But the drug runs hard and
Burns my beins
A mere shell of human
Is all that remains?
Tearing away day by day
This is what I’m trying to say
That this dope I found
 Was my only friend
Slowly brought my life to an end
The high that I thought was
My only joy is now seeming to toy
Toy with my emotions, my soul and my heart
I now know it ripped my life part
For me it’s all OVER
And this was my END
All due to this “FUCKING” friend
So heed my warning
Before it’s too late
Because in the beginning
It seems so great
But in the end
You’ll become just like me
And your live will become
My next travesty

Blindness

O blindness you are leading me
Upon destructing
Not allowing myself
to see the light
The happiness
Of life
Blindness
Got me living a terrible life
Only allowing me
to see
How I want to see things
In my perspective of life
Which is perplex
From the entrapment
Of my own self prison
I’ve torn off the veil
Coving my vision
Surprise!!!
Now I see the life of
Redemption!!!

Ship wrecked

Ship wrecked, lost in a world of pain
I set out for the seas of love
Instead caught in a hurricane
I should have known better than
To sail order a moonless sky
With my heart guiding me
I never saw the signs
I figured the rough waters were a commitment of the journey
And strong winds gave no reason to worry
Then out of nowhere my entire life was turned upside down
As the current pulled me under
I thought I would surely drown
I struggled and struggled to reach the top
Suddenly I crashed chest
First into a rock
With my heart broken
I drifted ashore
Swearing to never sail
These seas no more
Ship wrecked lost in the world of pain
I set out for the seas of love
Instead caught in a hurricane

WHAT MAKES THE SOUL CRY

I ask myself what makes the soul cry
Is it the pain I feel in my heart?
Is it the cries I hear at night?
Or is it the man who no longer cares
About life and his soul gave up the fight

Through my hardest trials, I never cried
Is my soul as hard as a stone; does blood flow
Through my veins
Or did I just accept that life of crime while my soul continues to go insane

What is one of the deepest thoughts a man can feel
Is it the thoughts of family and friends?
Or do you feel like your life has been a disaster
And you start to wonder when it will end

What makes my soul cry I ask myself all the times?
Is it I was selfish to love?
Never letting anyone in
Sometimes it feels like my old soul has died
And I am still waiting for my resurrection to begin

Someone once told me you make my heart smile
I didn’t understand because my heart was foul
I want the answer to why does the soul cry
Because I still don’t know why
Because my life was trifling
So anything positive I am willing to try

Farewell…Again

Another workshop of reciting poetry, is in the books
After these 4 days, you all must feel like common crooks

Each time you come here, we immensely enjoy you more
Not ever wanting, to close the steel door

We continued writing poems, and sharing newfound friendship
Surprisingly feeling like, we were almost kinship

Some of your poems, got so much better
A few of the lines, even found their ways into our letters

But best of all, this second time around
We had another chance, to joke and clown

Now that you are leaving us, once again
We will be left wondering, how have you been?

Ending another, show and tell
We humbly wish you, a heartfelt farewell

As you go back, from whence you came
Talking with you, your fortune and fame

We will not forget you, so please do not forget us
Coming back again, is truly a must

From the poetry group, at E.C.I
It is time once again, to say goodbye

8 years ago was I a man? Or was I a boy trapped inside of a man, trying to find out how to become a man?
Why?
I was only a drug dealer, womanizer, controller, and manipulator.
I didn’t care about life
Only what life had to offer me
Was I selfish?
Yes, selfish to compromise, utilize, fantasize or even look inside
Inside of what?
Look within my soul, look within my heart – to visualize a different perspective in my life
Not giving myself a new start
Start to what?
My desires was my best friend, destruction never will end
Cars, houses, pain, this girl, that girl
Shit, how the hell shall I begin?
I met my father one time
A man he claim he was
He was not a man
A man does not leave his child for dead
Unclothe,
Unsheltered,
Mother to struggle alone
Fuck that a coward is a life I will never condone
My inner thoughts say this
My inner thoughts say that
My system was to get money and never become a rat
Money was the root to my evil
I was blind to life
Blind to a smile
I didn’t care about the youth
8 years ago I was a menace and I didn’t give a fuck about the truth

Three Women and a Man

Let me tell you about these 3 women and this humbled man
These people are so unique – but you might not understand…
See the came to where I live – and they brought such a light
Their over all presence had a profound effect on my life

They have so much passion – it is so vivid in their speech
Even though they didn’t share many poems – it still flow when they speak..

I am hoping I am remembered as much as I remember them
And maybe in the near future we can do this thing again

I actually learned some things – I honestly can say I have from these three beautiful women and this humbled man…

Who inspired me

She inspired me
Inspired me to reach within my mind
To excel pass this 8x10 barrier to escape time
Through at times you fear I ask too many questions
It inspires me to see you teach each poetry session
When you speak it’s like you’re moving mountain
It inspires me in this poetic way
The way you have me sitting on the edge of my seat to hear everything
You say
Because of your knowledge and understanding of life itself
And you are passionate concern of those like myself
See it is your wisdom and helpful heart
The way you jumped in an extended your land from the start
So intellectual, strong and modest as you may be
These are the things that inspires me
Even though there was 16 placed infront of me
It was you that motivates and inspires me
Through I may go home in October or November
It is my brothers and sisters in this class I will always remember
Diada: Intelligent as you maybe
Trigger: A leader as everyone can see
Howard Bey: never cease to amaze me
Mark: Just stone cold crazy and nice as he maybe
And TY can float like a butterfly and sting like a bee
Just to name a few
But my inspiration is Sarah and for that I thank you!
And God Bless you!

Inspiration

…Inspiration

This motivation that influences me to act, even in this world of incarceration
This energy source deep within which dictates my movements from the sight of observation
Empirically proven, that someone or something can indirectly determine your destiny.

…inspiration

Which move the spirit, the soul, your inner-being to reach the heights of your aspirations which triggers the hand, And this creative process of your 3rd eye, Filled imagination
The very thing that lies on your conscience, which sparks the electricity of the creative machine

…inspiration
That which can be characterized or marked by an ambitious determination
To be moved deeply, pushed and shoced by ones actions, ideas, suggestions or directions
That which ignites and incites the adrenalin to strive, ascend and move forward

…Inspiration
What inspired me today, is what inspires me everyday, the opportunity to experience life
Through strife and adversity, I have developed a mental capacity which can't be taught at a university.

Life I love, Life I cherish, And to life I extend a common courtesy.

..Inspiration

Welcome to Poetic Injustice

Greetings of peace everyone!

Poetic Injustice is a site dedicated to those who are incarcerated. Sometimes in life it is easy for us (people on the outside) to absolutely forget about a group of people in our society. The purpose of this site is to prepare a platform where the ideas and feelings of inmates who are in Maryland can share their thoughts and emotions with the rest of the world. This site is admin by four young activist from the DMV area who have interacted with inmates on several occasions and believe the voices of these incarcerated men to be important. The purpose of this site is to inform you about inmates, it is to encourage the public to learn about our justice system and most of ALL it is to set an example for the younger "troubled" youth to never seek a life or a path that will end them up behind bars.

The name of the site POETIC INJUSTICE is actually an acronmy for:

P= Prisoners
O= Opening
E= Emotions
T= Till
I= I
C= Cry

I= It's
N= Not
J= Just
U= Us
S= Sent
T= To
I= Inside
C= Correctional
E= Education

We hope you will enjoy the poems on this page and also share it with others. Please share your comments and ideas with us.
