Haikus from Mike Perry

Build a prayer,
from a prison cell,
the depth of love,
I know so well.

                                                   Momma said, no not yet
                                                   to a whispered regret.

In shallow minds words erode,
small packaged dreams seldom
          EXPLODED.

                                                                          Touch a memory
                                                                           back space erase
                                                                            10 to 30, what a waste.

Helpers Who Need the Help

Puzzle masters in their own right,
They piece together fractured minds;
Years of schooling prepared them for this -
To sift through the scattered pieces;
Yet some fail to sift through my own.

Their imperfections and frailties,
Uncollected and corrupted pieces,
Become known through unscrupulous acts;
Acts that have befallen me,
Leaving my mind even more fragmented.

Instead of helping me collect my pieces,
They've scattered my pieces even more;
I was strewn about and incomplete
How could they have taken this role...?
The role of decency they couldn't even fulfill!!!

Mortally wounded by a role abused,
I was unable to receive the help I needed;
Unable to display a completed puzzle,
The empty spaces were filled with madness;
Madness that went forth into the world....

The Abusive Hands of Neglect

Beating hands thunderously smack
Against the flesh of a newborn;
It seems any chance he'll surely lack
Emerging in a body that's war torn.
Born into this he was cursed to be;
It seems no blessings he'd ever see.
Before one year, he's inched to death;
He'd almost breath his last breath.
Internal blood gushed around
Inside the battered baby;
His psyche issues were abound,
Seizing hold of the baby.
Born into this he was cursed to be;
It seems no blessings he'd ever see.
Before one year, he's inched to death;
He'd almost breath his last breath.
Returning to where he first saw light,
He's once again with strangers.
Their gifted hands made him right,
But couldn't keep him from dangers.
Born into this he was cursed to be;
It seems no blessing he'd ever see.
Before one year, he's inched to death;
He'd almost breath his last breath.

What is man?

What is man?
Is the most propose questions ever asked
So... who is he
To be respectful of
To be honored, admired – loved
Look upon as
Husbands, fathers
Brothers & friends
TO be provider, teacher, the protector
Of the garden
Is he to be just
Charitable, benevolent
Consistent with being sincere while
Upholding the dignity
Of his very existence

Is it we ( you & I)
Who actually exemplify the qualification of man
Hmmm... I ponder
As we allow ourselves to be dictated
By our uncontrolled passions
So blindly we are
Obsessed with our image
For we're so self – conscious
Are we not vain
Caught up in an illusion – the game
Cee, Its all a game we play
Seeking the glory, its fame
Living an pernicious life
Driven by greed
You know, a condition we fantasize for
The power, the wealth and the conquest of her
Yes! Beautiful her
“The World”
Queen of humanity
Though we abused, mistreat
As if she isn't the mother of we
Mother of man

So who is man?
That neglect the moment of defining self
for we masquerade out inner feelings
Ignoring the voice within
Such foolish pride
Believing the man don't
Cry tears nor should be sensitive
Damn!!!
We're so out of touch with self
The actions of our soul
Misguided of the lack of knowledge we
Possess of self

Know man was created in the light of Greatness
Created King the Thinker
Sustainer of his fate
Yes! Man is
To be respectful, honorable, dependable
Modest
Honest to himself & others
Man has integrity, dignity
He's trustworthy of his innate duty
Purpose – goals & aspirations
Man is phenomenal
Inspirational one
Who encourage the best in others
He is triumphant in his actions
Persistent, passionate
Fuel by persevering' thru life
Continuous struggles

Yes! Man is
Steadfast in his belief
Stand firm in his faith...
“This is Man”---

Fireplace in my heart

I wanted you to know
That your portrait hangs over
The fireplace in my heart
I go there often
When you're not around
I sit and I stare at the
Beauty of your heavenly design
I love it there
I feel a warm and secure comfort
In these timeless moments
Hours may pass by
And I will never even notice.
