The Polarizing School Kids

“Shane the pain that snorts cocaine,”
A popular phrase with the school kids.
Too young too realize the power in words,
They sliced and diced my emotional core.
How did they know my parents delight?
Why did they think I snorted cocaine?
They cut to my core with their words of hate.
They made me feel stupid and worthless.
I needed their friendship oh so bad,
Yet only received their words of hate.
They brushed me aside as a waste of space,
A kid whose parents didn't even love him.
Anything they knew that different from them,
They used as weapons to crush me.
Like a military bombardment,
They fired their missiles of hate
And dropped their bombs of detest.
I ran to escape their blasts of ridicule;
They pushed me away, so I withdrew.
I never quite knew in which way to go
Yet I knew that scene I wanted to leave.
I just wanted friends and to be accepted;
But in elementary school,
That was too much to ask.

Throughout Time

As I sit here and put pen to paper
Lets take a trip throughout time
While I put thoughts to past events in this struggle of mine
Thinking about how Howard Bay told me to think ten years behind
As my future and past slowly begin to intertwine
I wish I could rewind time to catch my son from falling
At nights its hard to sleep cause it feels as if he's calling
Dashawn Kaleel C I dedicate this poem to you
To Amia and Keira C my love forever remain true
Throughout time I realized the streets was never my home
My home lies with my family
Those I neglected and left alone
When the past becomes the future
You begin to understand the streets are the streets
And, family is family
But morals and principles make the man
It wasn't about morals and principles to me in the past
It was about money and clothes and cars and guns
Not knowing how long it would lost to live by the gun die by the gun
Was our only morals
And, yes I did say ours which makes this plural
I had two other brothers – one was killed, and the other was given life
If I could rewind time and do things right
We could all be riding in a lexus through the night
I would hug and kiss Dashawn to show him I love him
For my babies Amia and Keira their mother, my mother
We would take a cruise somewhere just enjoying life
Instead I'm sitting here bleeding through the pen
Waiting to reclaim life and start again
But in my heart I know it will be okay
Because the one and true God offered me life
And, a new day!

What is LoVe

Love is a very strong word...
Love is when you show true loyalty to each other
The man who is happy in love is the one who is racked by passion
For one whom he can keep loving forever
Perfect love would be if destiny forgot the two lovers
While they were enjoying each other
The least that the lover can desire of the loved one is to win her esteem,
Her attention to approach her – not daring to expect more
True love is when desire grows as time is spent together
In conversation and interest is shown by one to another.
Love is when a lover may wish from the loved one to take her in his arms when he desires her.

I am not offered the luxury of time

I am not offered the luxury of time
Not offered the luxury to shine
Sub-prime; I’m blinded by the grind that swallows my attempt at ordinary
At normalcy
My attempts at trying to be average
Wish I had the opportunity
To be full of childish leisure
Opportunity to change gratifying pleasures
But rather my smile of amusement is seized with crippling
Seizure of remembrance
Stifling images of impasses
From clad demonstrative shouts
Of me and neglect
I am past the point of reflecting
I am at the point of reflexing
Suggesting that the “isms”
Of the world be the reason
That the world scowls at my image of unfocused potential
Unwrapped talent
Dormant possibilities
Unleashed
I am feeling like I'm running a 100 years dash
500 years behind the gun shot of go...
I sneer at the misnomer
I conveniently hear the sabotaging forces say,
They got you calling life is the game
Got you relating it to chess moves
But I am figuring life
to be more like war
feel like a soldier
a warrior
I can feel Senegalese
and Zulu warriors blood
flowing through my veins
I don't know about you
pimpin but I'm engaged
In intellectual warfare...
I know damn well that
Ain't shit about war fare
Got you intensely attentive
To sensuous bigoted
Acts of defenseless and
Submissive thoughts
They got you on the 5 year
Lay away plan
Laying away 5 years of income
While they are in think
Tanks 5 miles under the
Sum total of your thoughts... (pause)
I am not afforded the luxury of time
Not afforded the luxury to shine
I'm to busy engaged in
Intellectual warfare

I C U

It's not simple to move
An inch in my shoes
Soothed by the crude knowledge
Of the despicable truth
Few pay homage
To those who
"ROAR their LOVE for UNITY"

You and me
Are not the same

See I'm stained
By your shadow
While your eyes
Absord every movemment I'm making
Takin' into consideration
My enemies take in this information
And when confronted
And abundance of explanations
Suddenly summons
Without hesitation

So, tell me

Cuz it seems to me that you seem
To tell everyone
                 Everything else
That you see
And what is seen
By my enemies
Means that you've seemed
To lean on their side
Of the beam.

I bet you weighed your options
And said, "maybe I should watch him"

The problem is
I gotta problem with
Fools who watch me
And what you do not see
Is an observer merged
In the distance
                      Witnessing you
                      Watching me

And what I believe about watchers
Is your only watching
To ease freely
Thru the seams
Of our struggle

You will bleed in this struggle
I will bleed for my people
Blood will be shed...

What goes around comes around

I can't believe I let myself slip like this
I forgot to shut and lock the window
I had opened it earlier because it was stuffy
And, I needed some fresh air.
Now look at me, I am a victim of burgurly.
Someone actually came into my house and robbed me.
I would have never thought in a million years this would happen to me
I like my house in order
Things are everywhere now
All of the place.
There goes a box of pictures of all the women I dated
They are scattered everywhere.
I had forgot about few of them, anyway.
The police aren't going to do anything
They are probobaly saying "my dumbass should have closed the window."
What's crazy is that I know who did it.
I called my mom and told her about it.
She quickly reminded me of what goes around, comes around
Suddendly, I remembed all of the houses I robbed.
I didn't know any better though
It was the cook thing to do then, all of my friends did it
I couldn't get caught being in a house and not robbing it
I really did take much,
I just has [sic] the place.
Now, I know how it feels
And, it hurts bad!

No Mother, No Father

The absense of love from my fleshly creators
Leaves a void consuming my soul.
I grasp for love...connection...a bond;
The things I see other kids enjoy.
I long to utter the words, "Mom, Dad;"
But to my mother and father,
Not to imposters!
I yearn for the love of my fleshly creators;
To be held, to be listened to, to be loved...
To know two people exist
That will do anything for me.
But those two people do not exist
I have no one...
No one willing to sacrifice it all for me.
No one listens to me or hears my cries.
I have no parents to hear my thoughts...
To know my needs...
I can only whisper the words,
"Mom, Dad"
To the created images in my mind;
But only when no one's around to hear me.
Only in my imagination
Can I talk to my fleshly creators...
Because I have no mother or father,
My father's not here,
And my mother's long gone.

Silent Tears

My nights are long the reason
Why, there's blood in my eyes
From fighting my demons
Along with the enemy
That oppress me
Oppress me with laws
Depriving my rights to
Live, in this country
As a free man igniting the
Race in my heart
That run through my veins
Recalcitrant to everything
Trying to break my
Spirit as a warriror
I fail to do nothing less
For the honor of my people
Black pride!
Is what my character shout...
To every revolutionary
Unborn & Dead!

You Can Do Anything

Tupac said that "reality is false and that dreams are reality...."
Whoever said the impossible wasn't possible...
That visions couldn't be envisioned if held only for a minute...
If you can think it...
You can feel it
You can accomplish it...
Weaving through the obstacles with dreams as high as you can count...
With great promises that you can touch the stars...
No matter how far...
Realizing you can do anything that you put your mind to...
Running with high hopes to never give up...
So, congratulations for achieving so much!

Written

I know it's wrong that you're sinning
But pop and mom were on their binjis
And I had to feed our siblings
I told Allah you'd be back when I'm finish
I had to get a quick run in
And it should only take a minute
It's been 17 years since I said it
We'd be in and out of prison
But can't regret it
Because all of it was written.

A Shattered Reflection

Question:
If you caught the image of a man
Fading in a shattered mirror
Like a shadow pursuing
The sight of sunset
After it rains,
What do you do?

How do you explain his reflection battered
Due to someone else
Who threw stones at that mirror
Not you...

But it's you who stand there
Staring at the broken image of a man
Fading like our thoughts before we sleep...
Like our dreams when we awake...
Dreams -
I had a dream
A dream that the moisture
From a mother's tears
Rusted the metal
Welded to the frame
Of this broken mirror
That the fire
Ignited by the lighters
Found in the pockets
Of dissatisfied fighters
Scorched the facists rope
Constraining our wrists
Far beyond captivity
But are we free?

Then why do we stand there
Staring at the broken image of a man
Fading with the sincerity
Of tomororrow's history?
Is it misery that comforts us
When fear approaches us?
Well, I'm sorry Misery.
I'm sorry that you put in
So much effort
Towards the demise
Of opportunity
You see, the unjust tragedy
You shot for
Shot back
And today's judical class classifies
Your sudden death
As troubled suicide
But, both you and I know
That most of the time
Most of the truth
Is consumed by just a few lies.
So, how do you revive the eyes
That have been fading in a shattered mirror,
Like the worn out soul
Of old, grumpy shoes?

How do you convince him
That his face is not white,
Nor the color of his body black?
But instead, it was the soil,
As rich as the heart of Assata,
That identified the people
Who cultivated life
When all hopes were lost
Understand, it was never the hands
But rather the land
That was black
Wayback before any
of the people were kidnapped
But somehow, someway
These people obtained
The name black
A name that gave them identity
When all hopes were lost
Now look deep into that mirror
And tell me
Tell me how you will tell him
That his ancestors were called niggers
Because through ignominious nascent
Some genius decided that
They were all ignorant
But then after so many generations
of dedication and benevolence
He decides to take pride in calling himself nigga
As a result of his own ignorance
As a result of being born blind
In a rich man's world
Where poverty's been the easiest way
To make money.
Where popularity defines morality
And spiritual spooks become reality
Nevertheless, he still fades.

Like the tears of time
Pieces of his existence
Will fall from eternity
Crying will not help him
No, crying will not save him from fading
Eventually, disappearing
From the distored reflection
In a shattered mirror.
So, what do you do?

If it was me,
I'd fix the mirror
But leave the cracks.
